There has been a big out puring of voices and public statements against Spurs plans to take over, tear down and rebuild the stadium after the Olympics. I can understand why, In the current financial climate Spurs plan amounts to a waste of £500 Million pounds building the stadium. If spurs want it they should firts pay back every penny of that money.

I am not a massive fan of athletics although i enjoy watching it at times when GB are taking part. I remember the Buzz of the 80's and 90's when the Olympics were on which seems to be lessened these days. I am a massive fan of the olympics and have spent time watching sports i otherwise wouldn't because it was the Olympics.

Giving the Stadium to Spurs will mean the UK loses an opportunity to host the 2017 world athletics championships. It wil mean Crytsal Palace have to change their plans for their new stadium on the site of the current Crystal palace stadium and it will mean West ham will need to look elsewhere. It will also mean we have yet another big private owned concert venue in london. It will also mean a couple of hundred million pounds of Public money will have been wasted as Spurs will not pay for all of it and any profits will i'm sure be split between AEG and Spurs.

If West Ham get it then Spurs can contuinue building their own stadium which i'm sure most Spurs fans would prefer to stay where they are. Newham council and West ham get a nice stadium complete with running track and an opportunity to get the 2017 Athletics championships. Crystal Palace can go about building their new stadium.

A key part of the bid to win the Olympics was an athletics legacy after the games. After all the furore over the world cup going to Russia and alleged impropriatries in the process i find it strange that Football might be the catalyst of Great Britain breaking a promise when bidding for another event.

If there is any common sense West Ham and Newham council apear to be the easily most sensible option. That probrably means it will be given to Spurs.
