Ok I realise this album came out in June 2009 but I wasn't aware of it until recently. While they don't offer anything particularly that hasn't been done before this album is a solid album from start to finish. The Nightwish comparisons are very obvious but other than a much easier on the ears vocal sound there are a good number of similarities.

The avoidance of Operatic style vocals means they offer something a little different to many Gothic metal female fronted bands. There are a fair few similarities to Stream of Passions debut release too and of course to Within Temptation. Within Temptation is to be expected as this band was created by Martijn Westerholt, founder of Within Temptation.

Delain focus more on more normal metallic melodies rather than some of the more grandiose themes found in some Nightwish music for example. This is something I really like & the only bits of the album I didn't like are the pointless growling vocals at times

I need to listen to Lucidity now which was this bands first album. Delain are playing in Manchester at the end of April and I might seriously consider going along.
