Or will it be singa-pour (see what I did there). The F1 circus moves onto Singapore and the first of the final 5 fly

away races. I have to say this is not one of my favourite race tracks. It is interesting as its the only true night race

but the track itself leaves a lot to be desired. Its bumpy, there isn't much overtaking and its trying just a bit too hard to be Monaco.

That all been said I'm sure I will be glued to my TV on Sunday afternoon. This seasons race has the prospect of some heavy rain which could lead to a fantastic race or a disaster if it's a monsoon. In any case getting pole position will be crucial this weekend.

Felipe Massa's 2008 pole lap.

There have been some big claims from Mclaren this week that they have closed the gap and will be competitive with Ferrari and Red Bull. I hope so or the 5 man title race will quickly drop to three. A bad weekend here for Vettel or Button if their team mates, Webber and Hamilton could easily see their teams favouring the leading driver. Forexample a failure to score by Vettel and a win for Webber would leave Vettel 49 points adrift with only 4 races left. Likewise for Button a failure and a Win for Hamilton will leave the gap at 32 points so the pressure is really on. The pressure is really on for all five drivers though as any failures to score now could mean the effective end of their challenge.

I wrote last race or the one before that Ferrari's challenge in the constructors was very much a long shot and i still believe that. They are 60 points behind and although that's a little over a 1-2 finish its a lot to ask for them to consistently beat both Red Bull and Mclaren. Elsewhere Renault are breathing down the neck of Mercedes for fourth place largely due to the fact Schumacher has been terrible this season. Renault's car was terrible at the beginning of the season and then it was unthinkable that they might catch Mercedes up especially with a rookie driver as back up to Kubica.

A good showing from Adrian Sutil in the Force India would help him leap frog Schumi which would be something that was not thought possible at the beginning of the season. Suzuka follows this race in two weeks and we may have a clearer picture of the title challengers by then or equally it may still be nail bitingly close. It would be fantastic to have five drivers still in contention at the last race but i think by then it will be down to 2 maybe three.
