Monza Grand Prix-view

It's the Italian grand prix weekend, another of my favourite races of the year. It's also another of the "original" circuits and has been hosting Grand Prix since 1922 and has been held at Monza every year apart from 9. The World Motor Sport Council met this week and released the 2011 F1 Calendar and discussed Ferrari's blatant cheating in Germany.

I say blatant cheating as they were found guilty by the race stewards and pretty much every F1 fan out side of the Ferrari fans thought they should get a bigger penalty from the WMSC. Strangely the FIA (often referred to as Ferrari International Assistance) decided £61,500 was a big enough fine, that's about the cost of one F1 steering wheel Add to this the Stewards mystifying decision to not penalise Massa for starting 2 metres ahead of where he should have in Spa.
I cannot say i am surprised as the FIA and WMSC seem to have something against punishing Ferrari. I can't help wonder if this had been Mclaren that there would have been at least a disqualification from the Germany GP or a race or 2 ban. In any case time to move on
The Championship this year is finely poised with only three points separating the top 2, Hamilton and Webber and Button, Vettel and Alonso not too much further back. Qualifying today will be interesting with Red Bull and Mclaren being fastest in the first 2 practices on Friday (this was written before Saturday practice; I just didn't get around to posting it.

This race should also suit Renault and Force India who were quick around Spa, Kubica had he not messed up his own pit stop would have finished second. The Constructors championship is even closer than the drivers one with only 1 point separating Red Bull (330) to Mclaren (329).
Should be a good race
