A Look back at 2011 part 5 - Formula 1

The 2001 F1 season was really the story of domination. 11 wins out of 19 races, 15 pole positions out of 19. He was on the Podium in 6 of the 8 races he didn't win and won the title by nearly 5 race wins worth of points and with 4 races to go. It was a truly phenominal season for Vettel. It was made even more impressive by the fact he destroyed his team mate in an equal car. That is something Schumacher never ever achieved. Vettel really was this season's driver of the year. One thing i really does hope he drops in 2012 is that damn annoying finger gesture.

There were some great races this year where it was more competitive sadly they were too few. The clear highlight was Canada where an imperious Jensen Button came from the back to win in a remarkable display of driving in the wet.

Lewis Hamilton had a year to forget, a season which included many trips to the stewards and one very awkwards "Joke"  wondering if it was because he was black. Hamilton really does act like a spoiled brat sometimes and hopefully this year's bad season including several tangles with Felipe Massa, who was also having a bad season, will make him grow into a better driver.

Paul Di Resta was clear rookie of the year in a year to forget for most of the new guys. He often out performed his much more experienced team mate and made the last part of qualifying on many occasions. Had one more race gone slightly better Force India would have ousted Renault from the top 5 teams. Sutil did eventually beat him for points due to a great run at the end of the season but it was a great season for Di Resta and another like it will surely put him in line for a top team for 2013. Especially as Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes all have drivers whose contract runs out at the end of 2012. The most likely of these is Mercedes who he spent 4 years in the DTM.

A sad part of 2011 was the disaster that was William's season. The once mighty Williams was reduced to just gaining 5 points and their worst season ever.  Inexplicably they have kept maldonado for next season who is poor.
