Well thankfully the annual F1 borefest that is the European grand prix in Valencia is over and done with for another 12 months. Valencia was another Imperious drive from Vettel and that's about as much as I want to say about Valencia lest I send you to sleep.
On to Silverstone with its new pit complex and new start finish grid location. The start finish straight is now the Wellington straight or the bit between Club and Abbey to most of us. The Pits start just after Stowe and feed back in just after Abbey. There is just a single DRS zone this weekend with the timing zone betweens 3 and 4 and the activation zone after turn 4 and along the new “National” straight.
The big change this weekend at Silverstone is the ban on off throttle Blown diffusers. While most of the top teams are expected to lose some performance from this no-one really knows how much difference it will make. Red Bull are expected to be one of the worst hit but we wont really know until after Qualifying on Saturday afternoon. I have mixed feelings about the rule changes on one hand i'd love the Championship to be closer but I don't like changing the rules because one team did a better job of building their car than everyone else.Still a run away winner, even when the racing has generally been good is not good for the sport. To be fair to Vettel he is also comfortably beating his team mate Mark Webber in equal machinery. Vettel's dominance is not like Schumacher’s where both Irvine and Barrichello were not allowed to beat Schumacher. Whether Vettel beats Schumis records we wont know for a few years but he has a lot more respect from me than Schumacher because he is willing to race his team mate. I'm not saying Schumacher wasn't a good driver, he clearly was but his legacy is tainted.
We wont really know what differnece it has really made until after qualifying
