Well insanity finally struck yesterday when a player who was playing in the championship last season was sold for more than World cup winning David Villa, Wayne Rooney and most other players in History. Don't get me wrong I think Andy Carroll is a quality player but worth no where near £35 million. I would have been disappointed to have paid anything above £20 million personally and even then that is a lot of money for a player who has only really had half a season in the premier league.
It was because Fernando Torres was sold for £50 Million which made the Carroll insanity possible and even this seems like too much for a player who doesn't have the best injury record and has been off form for well over 6 months. His sulking and unprofessional behaviour while Hodgson was at the helm should also raise alarm bells but the fact is he is a quality striker and when his head is in the game and he's fit there aren't many that are better than him.
It will be interesting to see how Ancelotti fits him, Anelka and Drogba into the starting line up. If there is a better front 3 in the world I haven't seen it. Liverpool need Carroll to be fit and Suarez to settle in fast.
Regardless of how these transfers pan out its now looks like Aston villa got an absolute bargain. £18m for Bent. Paying £17m less for a better & proven player at this time and only 4 years older seems like smart business, Bent is only 26 and about to hit his peak. It will be interesting to see who of those 3 and Suarez scores the most in the remainder of the season.
So no one bought Charlie Adam then, rumours I heard were Liverpool bid 8 and 10 million for him but Blackpool want 14……Honestly the world has gone mad. Also why did Spurs bid for him? They have Kranjcar who In my opinion is a better player and he can't even get a game.
