Wigan are perennially tipped to struggle both in the league and for  football  crowds in a Rugby heartland. The club is well run financially by Dave Whelan and even should they go down I don't expect them to struggle financially as much as some clubs.

Roberto Martinez is still a manager cutting his teeth and turned down a move to Villa in the off season. They have signed Al Habsi in goal who is a quality keeper but they have lost Tom Cleverley whose loan finished and N'zogbia to Villa. This may leave them with a lack of creativity this season.

Wigan desperately need some decent points from their first three games against all of the three newly promoted sides.
