A strong finish and lots of spending since Dalglish arrived leaves a view of optimism at Anfield. Dalglish has spent £100m since he took over and has bought some good young football players. If they thrive and stay a long time then the high costs will be more than worth it. Some people said Liverpool's form was down to there being no pressure in the second half of the season. Lack of pressure is certainly something they don't have the luxury of this season with their owner saying he expects Champions league and anything else would be a big disappointment. This coupled with the big spending piles the pressure on Dalglish who lets be fair has a history of running away when the going gets tough. He did it the first time at Liverpool when they began to get some real challengers and he also ran away when the pressure mounted at Blackburn.
I would like to see the odds on whether Dalglish is at Liverpool for the 2012-2013 season as I don't think he will. Liverpool will be starting the season short of their captain, Steven Gerrard. And short of a top quality defender to play along side Agger when he is fit.
Betting
Liverpool are 5th favourites to lift the title in May and I think I agree with the bookies that they wont be in the top 4 at the end of the season. A key for them is Suarez who is betweeen 9/1 ad 14/1 to be top scorer and Carroll is between 14/1 and 20/1. If they both perform to their odds then Liverpool have a chance as long as the defence doesn't let them down.
