Centred around the origins of the freidnship between Jim Raynor and Tychus Findlay who will be well known to any fan of the Starfcraft universe.  Although the book would be readable by someone who ahs no knowledge of the series there would be a number of things which wouldn't make a lot of sense or even be relevant.

As a fan of the series i very much enjoyed this book and thought it was a shame it wasn't just a bit longer. The opening of the book deals with James (Jim) Raynor and his reasoning in behind joining the Confederate Marines and how the Heaven's Devils squad came to be outlaws.

For those with knowledge of the series the book is set before the Protoss and Zerg are on the seen and covers Findlay and Raynor's exploits in the Guild wars. I for one will be picking up the follow up, Devil's Due by Christie Golden when it is released later this year. However if you aren't a fan of starcraft then i'm not sure this book is for you.
