Clubs awaiting Champions League draw

Posted 26 August 2010, 12:08 PM

The draw is today (Thursday) at 5pm which is a silly time as I am going to be travelling home and will miss it. For the first time Spurs will be included within the draw and I'm sure they and their fans are eagerly awaiting to see who they get. For most clubs out side of the Third pot I would think Spurs or Schalke will be the 2 teams which the seeds will most like to avoid, that's not to say the other clubs are weak, because they aren't.

Jarv retires from international football

Posted 15 July 2010, 4:57 PM

Following on from the pointless statement of Emile Heskey retiring from International football when he was never likely to play again anyway. After much consideration i would like to announce my retirement from International football.

It is with regret i must face up to the fact i will never represent England at football. In the tradition of players who were never likely to play for their country again (Andy Cole, Jamie Carragher, Emile Heskey to name but three)…

World cup post mortem

Posted 28 June 2010, 7:27 AM
So the world cup is over for another four years, well it is really if you are English. Let me start by saying i don't think England were as bad V Germany as a lot have made out. Germany were a lot more clinical when they attacked but looking at the first half we had a lot more of the ball, around 60% of it, we had the same amount of good chances in the first half as they did, Neuer got lucky by making himself big from a Lampard shot which hit his hand and James got lucky with his foot.

England V Germany preview

Posted 24 June 2010, 7:30 AM

England we're much better against Slovenia than the previous 2 games but still lacked the ability to get the second goal which would have won us the group and given us a slightly easier passage to the semi finals. Instead of Ghana then either Uruguay or South Korea we have Germany then either Mexico or Argentina, probably Argentina (assuming we beat the Germans).

Still i said before the tournament my dream tournament would involve knocking out Germany and Argentina (France too but they did that to themselves) and now we have a chance to do just that.

England V Slovenia Preview

Posted 22 June 2010, 11:07 AM

So, in a few hours we will know if England have made it through to the last 16 or not. Whether a chance for redemption awaits or the ignominy of an early plane home. Group C presented England with an extremely winnable group, by this stage we should have been saying will Germany win their group or finish second and end up playing England?. Will England meet Australia, Serbia or even Ghana?

Now that probably looks Arrogant and may be it is, but England are ranked in the top ten in the world. We qualified easy from a group which included Croatia who are ranked as better than all three world cup opponents and Ukraine who are ranked higher than both Algeria and Slovenia. So what has gone wrong? I've said before that I don't think Gerrard is a good leader for England and I think we are missing Ferdinand as a leader.

My team to face Slovenia would be:…..

England V USA Review

Posted 13 June 2010, 11:39 AM

So the first game is over for England and it didn't go exactly as planned, there were some poor performances, notably, most of the first half but there were some good points too. I don't just blame Rob Green for last night, yes it was a howler but I still think he is the best option in goal.

World Cup Group Games Predictions from Mystic Jarv

Posted 10 June 2010, 8:07 PM

I thought i better do this before the tournament actually kicked off so here are my predictions for the 2010 World cup group stages. I plan to attempt to predict every game in the world cup and see how i get on. I did ok in the premier league last season but the World cup has a lot of unknown quantities to me so this will involve a lot of guesswork.

So here goes……

Seven Miss out - World Cup 2010 South Africa

Posted 02 June 2010, 8:50 AM

So the world cup squads have all been finally announced, no reason now not to join The New Hut Fantasy World cup Game. There we're no real surprises in the 7 players left out although that's not to say I agree with them but who am I to argue with Fabio Capello.

Well it would be quite dull if I left it there so here are my take on the 7 left out

England announce a pointless friendly with Hungary

Posted 28 May 2010, 7:09 PM

The FA have announced that England will play Hungary in a friendly at Wembley on the 11th of August. I'd like to say this is an appallingly stupid idea. It's four weeks after the World cup finals where the England squad would have spent anything up to 2 months together playing games and training together. It's just three days before the new season kicks off and players are not likely to be fully match fit and/or jaded from the world cup so I don't possibly see what Capello can possibly gain from this game.

Uefa sanctions agianst clubs who spends to much

Posted 28 May 2010, 8:36 AM

UEFA claim they are not trying to punish clubs and for once I believe them and even stranger I actually agree with what they are proposing. Now this might sound strange coming from a Manchester United fan, who are basically in the largest amount of debt of any club in Europe. I think all football fans can agree on, something else that doesn't happen very often, is that no one wants to see clubs go to the wall. No one wants to see fans suffer in the way Portsmouth have this season either.
