or Championship manager as it was before the split, and i don't mean the recent
incarnations of Championship manager which is just a pale imitation of the originals and of the recent Football Manager games. of the whole series i think i spent most time playing the 03/04 version of Championship Manager
After the collyer brothers split from Eidos to form SI Games, the series was renamed Football manager, which some of you might remember was an older football management game on the Spectrum although it looked a far cry from the current games there was still the highlights of the game shown. . If you want to know more about the original football manager game have a look at this link to some information about football manager on the ZX spectrum. The screen shot is from there too.
The recent incarnations of Football manager have steadily made the game more complex and tweaked the options and game play each time. The last 2 have included a new 3d match engine rather than the previous top down engine and the text only version before that.
For most of the series i have spent a lot of time playing the games both on my own as well as playing an internet based game with friends. The last game however i didn't play as much as previously and the Internet game seemed to drag more than the others.
Eventually we gave up and moved on to other games. I've not decided whether to buy the next game yet as i am not really sure if I will play it enough as there are a lot of games i am looking forward to between now and the end of the year.
I'm sure i will add more to this page when I inevitably cave in and play the next version
